Rather than using a large block of text, a slideshow makes a blog more interesting. It's now easy to embed the slideshow from slideshare to a blog.

Laughter for the Internet Addict
One of the many things I like about working as a virtual assistant is that I can always work at my own pace...and that I don't have to feel so gloomy even when I'm alone...
Of course, it's been said...A good laugh and a long sleep are the best cures in the doctor’s book...
So don't take your work too seriously, find some time for laughter too...I found this on the net and would like to share with you...

There are many signs you need to watch out for that could mean you are yet another surf junkie addicted to the internet...
You find yourself typing "com" after every period when using a word processor.com
You turn off your modem and get this empty feeling, like you just pulled the pin on a loved one.
You start introducing yourself as "Jon at AOL dot com"
Your wife drapes a blonde wig over your monitor to remind you of what she looks like.
All of your friends have an @ in their names.
You can't call your mother...she doesn't have a modem.
Your phone bill comes to your doorstep in a box.
You laugh at people with 14,400 baud modems.
You move into a new house and decide to Netscape before you landscape.
You refer to going to the bathroom as downloading.
You tell the cab driver you live at http://69.luck.street/house/bluetrim.html
Your spouse makes a new rule: "The computer cannot come to bed."
You ask a plumber how much it would cost to replace the chair in front of your computer with a commode.
You start tilting your head sideways to smile. :^)
You turn on your computer, and turn off your spouse.
Your best friend is someone you've never met.
Your spouse says communication is important in a marriage...so you buy another computer, and install a second phone line so you can chat.
You begin to wonder how on earth your service provider is allowed to call 200 hours per month "unlimited."
Your dog has its own home page.
So does your gold fish.
Smile! We'll go back to more lessons soon....

Learn how to make a powerpoint slide show from a photo album
Since the online seminar challenges aspiring VAs to learn by doing, I tried my hand at making a slideshow presentation. Not really an expert at this, but soon I got the hang of it, and learned to place my pictures in one folder so I can just arrange them into a powerpoint presentation in just one click!
Here's how I did it...02ana_villarmente_create Power Point From Photo Album

Lesson No. 2: Experts don't have to be older than you
Jomar Hilario’s tutorial takes about 3-4 hours. The first time, I went through it in two sittings. But we can always set aside even one hour to digest the lessons. Take note, I’m not really a computer techie, as my son says...So I just asked him to download it, and when his not around, I have the younger pamangkins do what I cannot do on the computer for me. (Lesson No. 2, don’t be afraid to ask help from an expert, and experts don’t have to be older than you. LOL)
Life Lesson No. 1: If you want to succeed, give time
The first thing I learned is that I really have to set aside some time if I am to succeed in this. In order to teach and share, I must learn. I’ve set aside two hours in the afternoon, instead of my rest time, I’ll listen to Jomar’s tutorials and do my assignments.

Learning new things
So finally I threw away all my excuses and enrolled myself in Jomar Hilario’s Online Virtual Assistant Course...At first, I had a hard time putting my schedule in order, with the Christmas vacation coming up then, my grown-up kids coming home, the big family reunion and all the activities of the holidays...but now I’ve set my heart on it, I’m excited because I am learning a lot of new things which I can also use for my day work...like making a powerpoint slideshow and converting it to a pdf, and since my job includes trainings, I can also use this to post the slideshows on the internet, and my trainees can browse it in their own time. Nice, huh!

Virtual Assistant: A Dream Job for Me
A dream of better life ahead...that’s what I rehearse in my mind early mornings. The dream house, the dream car, the dream life. And the dream life includes working from my home so I can spend more time with my family...Not have to go through the pouring rain, not have to commute in the hot, hot sun...not have to waste time in commuting...And have more time to smell the roses, literally speaking...Instead of commuting, have time to make a garden, have time to tinker around the house, have more time in the farm, have more time for the family...and make money on the net! That’s why I want to be a VA...because VA work is a dream job for me!
